Automated Bank Feeds Coming to Accredo Late September

Reconciling your bank accounts in Accredo is about to become much faster and more streamlined.

Right now, reconciling your bank account in Accredo means exporting a statement from your online banking, importing it, and then matching bank transactions using Cash Book Rules. Bank feeds will remove that export-and-import step entirely. Bank transactions will flow into Accredo automatically overnight or on demand, so there is nothing to download or import by hand. You will still reconcile and match transactions as usual, but the statement will already be there waiting for you.

Accredo receives the feed through Akahu, New Zealand’s open banking provider.

Bank feeds are not yet available for Australian bank accounts. You authorise the connection just once through your bank’s mobile banking app, and Accredo never sees or stores your banking credentials.

Statements are created automatically on the cadence you choose for each account—whether that is weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or a set number of days. When an account is set to Match After Import, lines are matched automatically and are ready for your review; matches are applied only when you accept them. Re-importing is completely safe too: every line carries the bank’s own transaction identifier, so overlapping imports recognise what is already there instead of duplicating it.

You will always know when there is work waiting. A prompt will appear when you open Cash Book, and a new Feed Statements list—accessible from Cash Book, the Navigator, or the Action Bar—takes you straight to the reconciliation that needs to be done. You can also have Accredo email you a confirmation for each successful import, and if a feed ever fails, nominated contacts are automatically notified of the reason.

Crucially, nothing you use changes today. File importing is untouched, and a bank account can use a feed, a file, or both, each with its own settings. If you prefer the way you reconcile now, you can simply carry on as normal.

One thing to be aware of during setup: authorisation is handled through your bank’s mobile banking app, so the accounts you want feeds for need to be connected to a signatory’s banking app. Until the banks extend open banking to dedicated business banking (expected from June 2027, though Kiwibank already supports it), business accounts are authorised through a signatory’s personal banking app. Your QSP can help you work out whether your accounts are ready to connect.

Bank Feed Subscription

To use bank feeds, you will need a monthly Bank Feed subscription. This covers your Akahu account fees and the work Accredo does to bring the feed into your system.

The subscription costs $10 per month, charged per connection. Accounts that can be attached to your bank’s mobile banking app can be authorised for bank feeds through a one-off setup step that does not need to be repeated.

Bank feeds require Accredo Version 9 with the Cash Book and Web Service modules.

We will be in touch again as the end-of-September launch gets closer.
