FA Enter Opening Values

You can add a new Asset and generate multiple transactions from a single entry form and optionally calculate NZ Investment Boost and associated adjustment.

Enter Opening values is also used when transferring an existing asset register into the Fixed Assets module.

Assets and opening values can also be imported using Data Interchange and the FAOpeningValuesData object.

Toolbar

ToolbarExpand

Expand Toolbar (Alt+F9)

Expand the toolbar to give access to all toolbar options. Press Esc to close the expanded toolbar.

Insert (F4)

Insert opening values for another asset.

 

Customise Toolbar

ToolbarExpand Customise Toolbar or right-click in the toolbar below the buttons to access the Customise Toolbar Menu.

Fields

Period

Select the period to post to (default, Accredo System Period).

Asset Code

Either:

Select an existing asset for the opening value transactions.

Or a new Asset can be created:

If Allow Manual Asset Codes is selected in FA Settings, or enter a new unique code for the Asset, or leave empty to assign the next Computer Supplied Asset Code.

Asset Name

The name for the asset. Appears on reports and when you select an asset.

Asset Group

The Asset Group the asset is assigned to. Click to open Asset Group. If the Asset Group is changed, the depreciation defaults for the Asset Group are applied to the asset.

Asset Location

The physical Asset Location. Click to open Asset Location.

Serial No

An optional serial number of the asset.

Asset Date

The original acquisition date for the asset if it differs from the transaction date.

Date

The date of the transaction - defaults to the date of the previous transaction, or initially the System Date. It can be changed but must be within the date range for the period selected.

Reference

A reference for the transactions.

Comment

A comment to be recorded against the transactions.

Narration

Narration for the transactions. If you perform detailed transfers to General Ledger, the narration is carried through to General Ledger Batch lines.

Quantity

An optional quantity for the addition transaction, increases the asset quantity when the transactions are saved.

GL Account

The source or sink of funds account for the addition transaction. Defaults from the GL Funds Account specified in FA Settings - Integration tab.

Branch

The Branch for the funds dissection on the Addition transaction.

For new assets used for the asset Split. (Accredo Saturn Only)

 

Department

The Department for the funds dissection on the Addition transaction.

For new assets used for the asset Split. (Accredo Saturn Only)

 

Values

Shows the current Values for the asset for the Current Book.

Books grid

The grid shows a line for each active book.

Customise (Alt+F5)

Opens Customise Fields, you can customise the fields visible in the grid.

Edit / Replicate All Books (Ctrl+R)

Toggles editing the addition value for All Books.

Investment Boost

NZ Investment Boost wizard
Available for selection on new Assets / Assets without transactions only.

When selected after entering the Addition value.

  • Calculates 20% Investment Boost as Manual Depreciation.
  • Adjusts Depreciable Value to Addition value less the Investment Boost.
  • Sets Depreciation Option to Depreciate Now i.e. generate Depreciation in the period of the Addition.
  • Flags the Manual Depreciation transaction with "Investment Boost" as the Narration.

Note: If operating multiple Asset Books, to apply the Investment Boost in a single book toggle Edit All Books then select the Investment Boost button with focus in the Book line to apply the boost to.

 

Customise Toolbar

ToolbarExpand Customise Toolbar or right-click in the toolbar below the buttons to access the Customise Toolbar Menu.

Book Code

The book for the line.

Addition

The Addition amount (cost to date). Depreciable amount is set to this amount initially.

Depreciation Value

The Depreciation amount if any (depreciation to date) or NZ Investment Boost. Processed as Manual Depreciation.

Depreciation Option

Enabled when a Depreciation Value is entered.

  • Depreciating - asset already has depreciation transactions and depreciation cannot be changed from Opening Asset Values.
  • Depreciate Later - if Manual Depreciation value is entered, Generated Depreciation will commence in the following period.
  • Depreciate Now - if Manual Depreciation is entered, Generated Depreciation will be calculated with the opening values in the period of the Addition. Selected by the Investment Boost wizard.

Book Value

The book value (addition less depreciation). Addition amount is back calculated if you enter an amount in book value.

Revaluation Value

The revaluation reserve or write-down if any.

Depreciable Value

The value depreciation will be calculated on. Diminishing Value (DV) method assets automatically adjust depreciable value at year end to book value.

Set Depreciable value to a value different to the Addition amount when opening values are being entered into the current year and include depreciation from a prior year(s).

The Investment Boost wizard adjusts Depreciable Value to Asset Value less Investment Boost Depreciation Value.

Depreciation Code

Depreciation Rate

Useful Life

Residual value

The Depreciation code, Depreciation rate, Useful Life in years and any Residual value for this book. Depreciation code and Rate, or Depreciation Code and Useful Life are required for opening values to be saved. The initial values default from the Asset Group settings.

Buttons

Save (F9)

Creates the Asset if a new Asset Code was entered. Completes the transactions, updating the Asset.

Cancel (Esc)

Use to cancel the current opening values entry.
