File Recovery

Navigator > Setup > File Recovery

File recovery validates period and year structure, recovers module data, rebuilds indexes and word lookups, checks and reports data files for consistency, and repairs files if possible.

Accredo does not perform automatic file recovery. If Accredo terminates suddenly, for example, from power or computer failure, or detects and advises data inconsistency, perform a file recovery.

You may perform file recoveries regularly as part of End Of Period to provide early warning of data corruption or other problems. Discuss new errors or warnings with Accredo Support.

File Recovery is not a maintenance option. If you are needing to perform file recovery frequently, contact Accredo Support or your Accredo QSP. If data has been deleted, it is unlikely a File Recovery will repair it, and it can make it worse. Keep current backups, and create an additional backup beforehand. DO NOT overwrite the existing backup. Use new media (for example, USB media or tape). You may need to restore backups if the damage cannot be repaired.

For fast results, run File Recovery on the Server where Accredo Server is installed.

Right-click in the detail window to display the context menu. You can search for text using Find (Ctrl+F) and Find Again (F3).

Email error details to Accredo Support. MAPI compliant email must be installed.

ActionPrintDocument

Print Recovery Log

When you perform a file recovery, Accredo generates or adds to an existing error report. If errors are detected, you can print the error report.

Recovery Status Report

You can report when a file recovery was last performed.

Recover All Modules

Recover all installed modules excluding Table Designer Custom Tables, delaying error reporting until the last module is recovered.

An error report will be shown, listing errors, warnings, and whether table optimisation is recommended. If a table has usage ratio less than 75% and the maximum records used is >= 1000, then Optimise is recommended. Go to Navigator > Setup > Company > Utilities > Optimise Tables.

Recover [Module Name]

A recovery option will be available for installed Accredo modules. Select the option to perform a file recovery on that module only.

Warning: You will be prompted to back up your data before recovering modules. If you experience power or other failure during processing, restore the backup and perform the Recovery again.

Resize Recovery Log

When you perform a file recovery, backup or restore, Accredo adds an event and any errors or warnings to the Recovery log. Resize reduces the Recovery Log by deleting the oldest entries. Move the slide control for the Recovery log size, click OK or press Enter.

Resize is recommended if the log file exceeds 1GB.
