Navigator > Maintain > [Module] > Categories 1 & 2
Categories can be setup for:
Use Categories to group and sort records by useful criteria, and to Filter & Sort Sales Analysis, Purchase Analysis and Job Analysis.
Category 1 and Category 2 can be renamed to more meaningful names. To rename categories for a Module, go to Navigator > Setup > [Module] > Settings > Display Labels tab. Set the label for the Category to the new name. The new name will appear in the Navigator and in forms that use the Category field.
For faster SQL Queries and Custom Reports, have all Masterfile records indexed by category.
Code |
Unique code used to identify the category, maximum 8 characters. Field is read-only to indicate when a code is added, it cannot be edited. |

Description |
The code description printed on reports and shown in Lookups. |

Inactive |
When Selected, the code is inactive, and will not appear in lookups for the field. |

Toolbar |

Expand Toolbar |
Expand the toolbar to give access to all toolbar options. Press |

Insert |
Inserts a new code and provides access to the Code field. Codes are sorted alphabetically (or as specified if a sort has been added). |

Delete |
Delete the selected Category. |

Print |
Print a report of the information in the grid. |

Filter / Sort List Clear Filter / Sort |
Apply or clear a Filter & Sort. The button changes to indicate if a filter and sort is applied. |

Customise |
Opens Customise Fields, you can customise the fields visible in the grid. |

Refresh |
Reloads changes other Users may have made. |

Import |
You can import a list of categories. If a code in the import file does not exist it is added. If a code does exist, the Description name is updated. The import file must be in CSV format or in a tab-delimited text file. |
