Word Lookup Settings

Setup Word Lookups for each Module from Navigator > Setup > [Module] > Settings > Words tab for Masterfile records.

For each lookup type, you can select which fields to index the records on. The Word Lookups will search all fields listed for the words entered.

For example, by default IC Product is indexed on Description and Details. When you do a Word Lookup on IC Products, the lookup will search for your words in all Product and Description fields, and will return records containing the words.

You can also set up:

Break Characters

Characters in addition to spaces that delimit ends of words (for example, colon, semi-colon, dash). A space is considered a break character. If you are indexing phone numbers, it is particularly important to cover characters used in phone numbers correctly. See the note under Ignore Characters below.

Ignore Characters

Characters to ignore (for example, parentheses, dashes). If you are indexing phone numbers it is important to cover characters used in phone numbers correctly, for example, if the stored phone number is (09)373-5961 to lookup:

  • 093735961 as a single word - dashes and parentheses are ignored.
  • 09 or 373 or 5961 as separate words - dashes and parentheses are considered break characters.
  • 09 or 3735961 as separate words - dashes are ignored and parentheses are considered break characters.

Minimum Length

The minimum number of characters that make a word.

Ignore Words

Words to ignore, for example, the, and, PO, Box, Ltd.

Use the Export and Import buttons on the Ignore Words grid to export the list of words as a text file or import a previously exported list. On Save the list will sort alphabetically.

Words Grids

Text field to be included in word lookups, for example, Name, Address1, Phone No. On Save the list will sort alphabetically.
