Accredo Version 8 – Focus on Security, Usability, and System Enhancements

Version 8 of Accredo introduces a number of important changes, with a strong emphasis on improving system security and user control. The most significant update is the implementation of full encryption for stored string data, alongside improved authentication options. These changes reflect growing security expectations across industries and provide stronger protection for sensitive financial and operational information.

In addition to security, this release includes several usability enhancements designed to reduce manual effort, improve data visibility, and support cleaner transaction management across the system.

Key Security Updates

Data Encryption at Rest
All string fields in the database are now encrypted using AES-256. This protects against data breaches by ensuring that, if someone gains access to a backup or server, they cannot read the data without Accredo.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Support for One-Time Passwords (OTP) is now available, enabling MFA for system access. MFA helps prevent unauthorised logins, even if a user's password is compromised, by requiring a second factor—typically a code from an authentication app—to confirm identity.

This release includes a wide range of other enhancements across modules, including visual improvements, new preferences, and expanded customisation options.
Full technical details are available in the developer release notes.

Usability and Workflow Improvements

Context Menu for Filtering and Sorting
Users can now right-click in any list grid to quickly add or remove filters, sort columns, or clear existing criteria. Filtered columns are marked with a glyph for easy identification.

Calculate Totals in Grids
A new totals row is available in list grids, showing real-time totals for numeric columns without needing to print or export. Totals can be toggled on or off and are saved as part of the view configuration.

Hide Contra and Unallocated Transactions
Transactions in AR and AP that contra and remain unallocated can now be hidden. These are marked as inactive and excluded from statement printing, helping keep ledgers cleaner.

Recurring Reminders
Reminder entries can now be set with recurrence options, supporting regular tasks and follow-ups without needing to manually recreate entries.

Seven signs you may need new accounting software

There are some common signs a business has outgrown its existing system. If your company is experiencing any of these give us a call.

1

Loss of control: A key growing pain is that nagging feeling you no longer have your finger on the pulse and don’t have good visibility of your day-to-day business processes.

2

No single source of truth: If you can’t trust what your reports are telling you about the state of your business, it’s difficult to make sensible tactical and strategic decisions.

3

Information overload: If you are relying on multiple spreadsheets to keep track of things, it’s difficult to get one, consolidated overview of the business.

4

Handling information more than once: Rekeying data all the time? This opens your business up to human error and prevents your workforce from undertaking higher value assignments.

5

Lack of functionality: It’s hard to run an efficient business and keep costs down if your system can’t perform key tasks.

6

Lack of integration: Communicating electronically with suppliers and customers is essential, so you need a system that can integrate seamlessly with third party applications.

7

Bottlenecks slowing you down: If you need to stop key processes, such as order-taking, because your system can’t cope with month end, you are losing valuable productivity.
