Periods

Navigator > Setup > Company > Configuration > Periods & Years > Open (F12) button

Opens when you open a financial year from the Years grid, or when you add a new year.

Fields

Period ID

The internal identifier used for a period (cannot be edited).

Name

The name for the period. This will appear in the period selection drop down lists and on reports. Can be edited.

Start Date

The first date in the period. This must always be one day later than the end date of the immediately prior period.

End Date

The last date in the period. Start and end dates can only be edited for periods that have no transactions and cannot be edited for finalised periods. It is important you have the correct start and end dates setup for periods before you use those periods.

Status

Period Status can be:

  • Open - available for posting.
  • Closed - not available for posting.
  • Finalised - locks a period down and it cannot be reopened for posting. Always be certain before finalising a period.

Note: Periods within the First Available and Last Available Period settings for Modules must be Status Open.

Adjust

Selected, the period is an adjustment period (not a financial period). Adjustment periods can only occur at the end of a financial year and they are only available for use in the GL. The start and end dates for adjustment periods must be the same as the end date of the immediately preceding period.
