Navigator > Maintain > Accounts Receivable > Sales Groups Grid
You can inquire on, add, edit or delete Sales Group codes. Sales Group codes are used to analyse Invoice lines, and accumulate sales for transfer to the GL, graph a period, and year or last year sales. In the Grid you can add and edit multiple Sales Group codes. The Sales Group is applied to the lines in an invoice (IN installed). They are tied only to the Invoice line, or used for multi-line analysis when Invoice transactions are entered in AR (IN not installed).
You can analyse sales into Sales Group categories, which are transferred to the GL. The analysed Sales Group amounts are added to the appropriate Sales Groups when Invoices are entered in AR or posted from IN. By allocating specific GL Account codes to the Sales Groups, an analysis of sales (income) will be transferred to the GL when Transfer to General Ledger is selected. The GL Accounts will be Credited by the amounts in the Sales Group analysis.

An 8 character Analysis code which must be unique as it is used to identify the specific record. You will notice that this field is shown in the read-only colour to indicate that it cannot be edited. You can setup Sales Group codes that are the same as the GL Accounts. Use Alias codes to amend Sales Group codes. Sales Group code 0000 (default) is used to analyse sales when the Sales Group code is unspecified. A default Sales Group code can be entered against a Product from Navigator > Maintain > Inventory Control > Product. This code will be entered on an Invoice line when the product is selected. |

This will force you to analyse unspecified sales before you can post to AR. |

Inactive |
You can make Sales Groups inactive. You cannot post transactions for inactive Sales Groups, and they will not appear in Lookups. We recommend checking for Products associated with a Sales Group and re-assigning them before making a Sales Group inactive. To do this, filter on SalesGroupCode in IC Product. If there are a large number of Products associated with the Sales Group, you can reassign them using a script. |
