RD Tutorial: Change a report from Portrait to Landscape

This tutorial steps you through converting a Portrait oriented document design to be Landscape oriented. This example uses the PO Order document, but can be used for other documents or reports.

  1. Go to Navigator > Setup > Purchase Orders > Purchase Order Designer to open the Purchase Order Designer.
  2. Open the report to be converted, such as the POOrder.pfd report.
  3. Save the report with a different name. This is important, as if you save using an Accredo standard document filename your work will be overwritten when new versions are installed.
  4. Change the orientation of the report. Select the Report Component. To do this, select the Report component in the drop-down above the component properties. It will be listed first. Alternatively, you can click the ReturnToParent Select Parent (Shift+Esc) button next to the drop-down until the report is selected.
  5. Change the Orientation to doLandscape.
  6. Resize the header border. Select the Shape component containing the header. This is called shCompanyBox. Set the Width to 267.
  7. Move the Phone and GST details. Hold down the Ctrl key, then click and drag to select the Phone and GST Label and Expression components.
    Either: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the right arrow key to move the components to the right, until the Left position of the labels is around 210. You can hold down the right arrow key.
    Or: Right click on any of the selected components, then select Move from the component menu. Enter 81 in Horizontal , then click OK.
  8. Centre the header. Select the report header eDocName Expression component. Right Click to access the Context Menu, select Center Between Margins.
  9. Move the delivery details shape. Hold down the Ctrl key and click and drag to select the Shape component containing the Delivery Details, and all the fields within the shape.
    Either: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the right arrow key to move the components to the right, until the Left position of the labels is around 199.
    Or: Right click on any of the selected components, then select Move from the component menu. Enter 87 in Horizontal , then click OK.
  10. Resize the order details shape component. Select the shape containing the order details including the Order Date and Order Number. Click and drag to resize the shape or set the shape Width to 277.
  11. Move the last fields in the order details shape. Hold down the Ctrl key and drag to select the last Label and Expression fields in the shape, such as Page Number. Drag these to the right of the shape, or hold down the Ctrl key and press the right arrow key to move the components to the right of the shape.
  12. Hold down the Shift key and click on each label component in the shape to select all the components in the top row within the shape. Right click on any of the selected components, then select DesignAlign Align... from the component menu. Select Horizontal: Space equally, then click OK.
    Hold down the Shift key and click on each expression component to select all the components in the bottom row within the shape. Right click on any of the selected components, then select DesignAlign Align... from the component menu. Select Horizontal: Space equally, then click OK.
  13. Adjust the Line Headings, Detail bands and Group footers.Hold down the Shift key and click on each components in the Amount column, excluding the Narration component. Move the components to the right of the report. Repeat for the other columns positioning the components and adjusting widths as desired.
  14. Hold down the Ctrl key and select all the Totals components, including the shape surrounding them. Right click on any of the selected components, then select Move from the component menu. Enter 87 in Horizontal , then click OK.
  15. Select the horizontal line component and set the Width to 208.
  16. Click Execute Report (Ctrl+R) to run the report and check it is aligned correctly.
