Network Considerations

Specifications for the Accredo Server depend on the number of Users, type of network, and other applications running. The recommended minimum network specifications are a guide only. Higher specifications improve processing speeds. We do not recommend running lower than the minimum specifications.

When you open a Company in Accredo, Accredo will check the Operating Systems of both the Client and Server to ensure they are a safe combination and will display a warning if they are not. Do not ignore warning messages, or data may become corrupted. Obtain and install the latest service packs and hotfixes from Microsoft on all workstations on the network. Accredo supports the latest stable version of the Operating System.

Install the Accredo Server on a network with a dedicated Server once only, on one Server. Installation on more than one Server infringes the Licence Agreement and can cause data corruption.

Install the Accredo Client on every workstation where Accredo will be used. Also install the Accredo Client on the Server. After an Accredo update or upgrade is installed on a Server, the Accredo Client executable file will copy new files from the server to each workstation the next time the Accredo Client is opened on the workstations.

Accredo can be installed on any number of workstations. The number of Users that can work in Accredo at one time is limited to the number of user licences purchased.

Microsoft Windows Servers

Microsoft Windows Server out of the box is tuned for Client / Server speed rather than for file based applications. Tuning the Server will make a significant difference to response speed. If Accredo is the principle networked application run from the Server, ask the network administrator to tune for a File Server. [For SQL based network applications (for example, Microsoft Exchange) request balanced tuning.]

Anti-virus Software Configuration

Configure anti-virus software so it does not scan your Network traffic from the Accredo folder and its sub-directories, on both the Client and Server. This is a common cause of poor Network performance.

Offline Caching

Offline Caching should be set to None for the Network Share for the Accredo folder on the Server. When you create a shared folder, offline availability is enabled by default, which means that secure folders can be stored offline on potentially non secure computers. We recommend that Accredo is made available in its own share folder, with Offline Availability turned off for that share.
