When Accredo stores data on a network or hard drive, it also organises the data. Data stored by Accredo fits into one of the following categories:
Character, a number, letter or symbol.
Field, a unit of information (a name, date or account balance) of one or more characters.
Record, a group of one or more related fields, for example, the fields representing a customer name, address, and other details, grouped into a record called the Customer record.
File, a collection of records, for example, the collection of all customer records - the Customer file.
